Payday loans: What to do when you are unemployed

by - September 08, 2018

Being unemployed is hard. This means that there won’t be any steady income coming in the future and that you have a lot of free time to think about negative things. But instead of focusing on the negative, why not focus on what this moment may bring to you and your whole well being. Being unemployed means you have tons of things to do with your time. Below are some of the things that you may do.

Work online

Another great option if you’re unemployed is online work. Many different sites offer a variety of ways to make money online get payday loans, but make sure the site you’re working for is reputable. Micro job sites such as fiverr, as well as sites that pay for you to take surveys, are all quick, legitimate options. While these sites sometimes offer lower pay, it’s always better to move forward slowly than not at all.

Exercise

Much like organizing your life, another good way to keep yourself enthusiastic and healthy is to exercise. It doesn’t take much to get slightly more active, and exercise can help you stay positive. Even a walk around the block a few times a week can do a lot for keeping you motivated and determined. If you take care of yourself, you can make the most of this extra time.

Learn something

Use your unemployment to enrich yourself. Learn a language. Learn to code. Learn to sew. There are online courses for everything these days, so you don't even need to move out of the fart cloud you've created for yourself on your couch since being jobless. You might even learn something that will get you a job!

Increase your skills

Looking for ways to increase your job skills while unemployed is a good way to move forward as well. Look for certifications or training you could take, especially those offered for free. You can qualify more for even entry level positions with extra training in your line of work, and many cities or states offer job skills training. Refreshing your resume, and interview and job skills may make your job hunt easier.

Whether it’s an idea for a marketing campaign, new revenue stream, cost savings, etc., the candidates who show up at an interview with ideas demonstrate that they are passionate, knowledgeable, and excited about the opportunity. These job seekers always stand out from the crowd, CareerBuilder experts say.

Travel

Depending on what your cash situation is (maybe you're sitting on some savings?), being jobless is a great time to be aimless too. Go backpack somewhere exotic before you're back in the business of one week's annual vacation time that you're obliged to use to go home for Christmas.
Catch up with your network

Too often, job seekers feel awkward about reaching out to people in their network unless they're connected to a particular job opening. But it's worth reaching out to your full network and catching up one-on-one with people because you never know where it might lead. In particular, be sure that you reach out to past managers and co-workers who liked your work. They're in the best position to vouch for you and recommend you to others.

Relax

If you're in the position where being employed again is inevitable, then just relax. You might be scraping pennies together for a while, and watching every dollar you spend, but if you're in the privileged position of being hirable and having the skills required to seek and gain employment, then don't stress so much about your down time. As above, use it as impetus to better yourself, and be productive in ways you might miss out on when you are employed.
